Snow Wolf Lake (雪狼湖) - 1997 Original Hong Kong Cast

One of the most important musicals in HK. Started by one of the 'big four' in pop music Jacky Cheung, the show is created by a group of composers lead by Dick Lee with lyrics from various lyricists. Most of the songs are pop in style while most theatrical songs are contributed by Dick Lee. Iskanda Ismail has done a very good job in orchestrating the score which unify the whole show. Vocals are given by the irreplaceable Jacky Cheung with a talented cast. This is the first show in HK that created a blast, with a cultural following. Despite the book is rather simple, the love story caught the audiences' hearts just like soap operas do. With eccentric performances by the starry cast, the show enjoy a healthy run in HK, Singapore and other places which it toured. This CD faithfully recorded the whole musical with all the songs in it. All are brought into the studio except for the female lead, which is here repleaced by Chen Jia Lu, a studio back-up singer. Personal favorite here: Disc 1 tracks 1, 5, 6, 8, 13; Disc 2 tracks 1, 6, 10, 11, 18. Track 18 of Disc 2, translated "Eternal Love" is one of the best song ever in HK pop music industry, and a signature song of Jacky Cheung.
