This demo was likely recorded sometime around 1987, (A demo tape for the show is listed in the Library of Congress' inventory of audio tapes present in the Howard Ashman Archives, dated 1987. The script for the show is also included, dated January 2, 1988.), with a book by David Spencer and both music and lyrics by Alan Menken.

Despite what's listed, and despite common belief, Howard Ashman was not involved in the writting process for the show.
